IND vs AUS test series | First Test Day 1 | RRR Shines for INDIA

Rohit Sharma puts India in command after Jadeja, Ashwin shot down Australia for 177

INDIA has assumed early control of the first test. India scored 77/1 at the close of Day 1 to counter Australia's 177. With his 11th Test wicket, Ravindra Jadeja was the bowling standout as India dismissed Australia for 177. Rohit Sharma set the aggressive tone while batting, scoring 56 runs off of just 69 balls. India reached 77/1 at the conclusion of Day's play with Rohit (56) and Ashwin (0) on the crease. Todd Murphy defeated India's KL Rahul in the penultimate over.

Shami and Siraj gave India two significant breakthroughs on a dusty field by dismissing Usman Khawaja and David Warner. However, a stand of 82 runs by Labuschagne and Steve Smith helped to steady the Australian ship. After lunch, though, India staged a stunning comeback. With four and two wickets each, Jadeja and Ashwin shook the Australian middle order. Australia was knocked out for 177 just after tea.

Both pace and spin failed to stop Australia, with Shami and Siraj reducing the visitors to 2-2 before Ravindra Jadeja stepped up and took five wickets on his comeback to Test cricket. When Rohit Sharma scored a chanceless fifty off just 66 balls, Ravichandran Ashwin recorded his 450th (and 451st) Test wickets. Rohit Sharma also looked in imperious form with the bat. The Australian team's fielding performance was generally plodding, and his rival Pat Cummins was horribly out of sorts with his initial attempts with the ball.

Expecting day 2 also favourable Men in Blue.
